Extra plots will be up for grabs at Roundhay Allotments thanks to a helping hand with funding from local councillors.
The council's local area committee has agreed to put £3,000 towards moving of the boundary fence to allow the expansion to take place.

The cash is a huge boost to the Roundhay Allotments and Garden Association which is also contributing to the move.

It is hoped the expansion will encourage local residents to use the outdoor spaces.

The association currently has a waiting list which will be reduced thanks to the additional plots.

Coun Matthew Lobley (Con, Roundhay), who chairs the north east (inner) area committee, said: "In helping fund the expansion of these popular allotments we can ensure that people can get full usage."

The full cost is £6,800 with £3,000 from the area committee, £3,000 from Parks & Countryside and £800 from Roundhay Allotments and Garden Association funds.
