Over £224,000 of investment into The Bankhouse Inn is planned by owner Star Pubs and Bars, in an effort to attract new operators.

The Yorkshire Evening Post first reported the news of the Pudsey pub’s closure on 3 February 2021.

Now, in an effort to get the pub ready for trading again, Star Pubs and Bars says it is pouring £224,000 into the watering hole and transform it into a 'truly beautiful destination country pub'.

A statement on firm's website reads: “The Bankhouse is a traditional stone built pub located in the village of Pudsey.

“Nestled within an idyllic setting, this country pub has a real sense of character.

“We are now planning an investment of over £224,000 to reopen this once celebrated establishment.

“It also boasts a beautiful beer garden that offers customers views of the surrounding countryside.

“Our investment will cover all trading areas of the pub to create a truly beautiful destination country pub.”

The new operators will have to be prepared to cover just under £54,000 worth of ingoing costs, including a £12,375 deposit.

Star Pubs and Bars, owned by brewery giants Heineken, are also asking for £49,500 annual rent, which equates to £4,125 a month.

It is also expected that the new operators will have experience in running pubs that drive a significant amount of trade through food sales.

In return, the pub comes with three bedrooms – one with an en-suite – a living room, kitchen and second bathroom for the tenants.

The pub is a popular spot for both walkers and Pudsey residents, and it is hoped that the Bankhouse Inn can be saved.
