Drug-dependent newborns were treated more times at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust than anywhere else in England in 2019-20.

Babies exposed to drugs in the womb were given withdrawal treatment around 270 times in that period, according to the PA news agency data team.

Morphine and methadone were among substances given to newborns to wean them from drugs used in pregnancy by their mothers.
