Mystery of 'weird orange glow' in Leeds skyline on New Year's Eve revealed

Social media users from across the city shared photos of the glow online and began speculating on what it could be.
Some joked about an alien invasion - but thankfully a Beeston resident able to put people's mind at ease.

Hide AdThe mystery was solved by Ryan Hodge, who took a photo of the light source from the quarry near his house on Beeston Hill.
As correctly speculated by many clued-up football fans, the light was coming from Elland Road stadium.
It has not been confirmed by Leeds United exactly what the light was, but sports fans have suggested that it part of a light system designed to make grass grow.
