Flooding hits Otley as police warn residents 'do not put yourself in danger'

Billams Bridge in Otley has been hit by flooding and police and Leeds Council have both warned motorists to avoid driving through the area.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Please avoid the Otley area, especially Billams Bridge. Do not put yourself in danger or attempt to drive through flooded areas."

Hide AdA Leeds Council spokesman added: "Billams Bridge in Otley affected by floodwater. Highways teams are en route to effect road closure. Please do not attempt to drive through. Updates as we get them. Stay safe everyone."
They added later on Saturday morning: "River Wharfe level has now peaked and should start to fall. LCC teams on scene assessing situation. Please avoid until advised of road reopening. Stay safe."
Heavy rain fell across Leeds overnight and is expected to continue this morning.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind today (Saturday).

"Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
"Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
"It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves"
