History girl Adams strikes again
Adams, already the Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion, looked in control from the first bell of her flyweight final, with two of the three judges awarding her the win 39-37. The third tied the contest at 38-38.
“I’m absolutely over the moon. I can’t believe what I have achieved today,” said Nicola, 32, from Leeds.

Hide Ad“I’ve had a bit of a rocky start to the year but this makes this win so much more special for and it’s all come good in the end. I’d just like to say thank you to everybody for the support – I couldn’t have done it without everyone behind me.
“I thought I had done enough all the way through. She’s a good opponent and has improved a lot of the last couple of years so I knew it was going to be quite tough but though I would have enough to get me through.
“My level is really good as you can see – I’m European Games Champion and I’m bringing back a little piece of history to Great Britain. Now it’s onto the qualifiers for Rio.”
