Thomas Frank's fourth-placed Bees began the day four points behind third-placed Fulham but slashed the gap to a point after late strikes from Said Benrahma and substitute Emiliano Marcondes at Craven Cottage.
The result still left Brentford seven points behind second-placed West Brom ahead of their 3pm kick-off at home to Birmingham City - and having played a game more - with the Bees still eight points behind Leeds United ahead of their Sunday lunch-time clash at Cardiff City.

Asked by Sky Sports if Brentford were still looking at the top two, Jansson said: "I think we need to do that.
"I mean, why not? Now we play West Bromwich on Friday and especially after three points it's an even bigger reason why we should look to the top two.
"Of course we are looking for that and if we can't reach the top two then we just need to switch on and prepare for the play-offs but I think we would just be stupid to not look at the top two."
