Leeds United had made a strong start to life back in the Championship in 2010/11 following promotion from League One in the summer prior.
The Whites welcomed Gary Speed's Sheffield United to Elland Road for what would turn into a feisty Yorkshire derby that saw two red cards and a late winner.
It was a Bradley Johnson strike which saw the hosts claim the spoils in a 1-0 win to move up to fifth position after just eight games of the campaign.
Robert Snodgrass - who was a substitute - picked up a second yellow after providing the 84th minute winner with a low cross.
Blades substitute Jamie Ward was also given his marching orders just minutes later for a lunge on Neil Kilkenny, which sparked a hot-tempered fracas between the sides.
The game also saw club legend Lucas Radebe - who was promoting his new book - return for a rare fixture in West Yorkshire as Leeds head coach Simon Grayson got the better of fellow former Whites apprentice Speed at a packed out Elland Road.
Here, we take a look at those players who featured in United's last win over the Blades in LS11 nearly 11 years ago:
1. Shane Higgs
Struggled greatly with injuries at Leeds. Played just seven times in the Championship. Has led a quiet life away from football since his release from Northampton in 2012. Photo: Varley Picture Agency
2. Andy Hughes
Most recently first team coach at Sheffield Wednesday after spells on the staff with a number of clubs. Somewhat of a cult hero at Elland Road for his unforgiving style of play. Photo: Varley Picture Agency
3. Alex Bruce
Retired from football in November last year. Has turned to media work since hanging up his boots, having been on both television and radio.
4. Neill Collins
Currently head coach of USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies, based in Florida. He has held his post since 2018. Spent less than a year with Leeds. Photo: Varley Picture Agency
5. George McCartney
Made his debut for Leeds in this game. Enjoyed two loan spells but never made his move permanent. Moved back to Northern Ireland following retirement and does occasional pundit work.
6. Max Gradel
The 33-year-old is playing for Sivasspor in Turkey after spells with St-Etienne, Bournemouth and Toulouse. This season he has 10 goals in 37 games, including a goal against Villarreal in the Europa League.
